Event Review: Paple Rayn 3rd Anniversary

I can’t recall off the top of my head, when I last attended a fashion show. And even those that I had attended in the past didn’t have a lot to write home about. After that, I decided to leave the things of fashion to fashionistas. Long story short, I changed my mind.

And that’s how I ended up at the Paple Rayn anniversary Couture Showcase.

Paple Rayn is an online shop, that celebrated its 3^rd year of bringing fashion to your doorstep on 16^th July 2016. The event was held in the Lugogo Forest Mall Parking Lot, which worked in my favor since I stay on that side of town away from town.

The show began fashionably late (did the pun work?), but when it did, there was no stopping until it was done. And by then, I didn’t really want it to it to end.

People mostly think sweet, classy, elegant and beautiful when it comes to wedding gowns/attires but not only was Vencyz bridals not on the same page, they were in a different library. And I loved it. What Dina did with these outfits caught me unaware, and left me in awe. And that the collection was inspired by her special person left me mushy and awwwing, because who doesn’t love a beautiful love story?

African print fashion has been on the rise over the past few years, and a lot Ugandan designers have taken it up. I am yet to find breathtaking, unique outfits but I am hopeful. Nothing in particular piqued my interest about the Mosaic Fashion House collection – it was okay.

The Paple Rayn Hub showcased its Luxury Men’s Brand which was launched in 2015. The collection is for the Eccentric, Dapper Bold Man with a flair for something Unique and Subtle all at the same time. I must say that I wouldn’t mind meeting the dapper man Susanne had in mind when she put together this collection. He must be something else.

Speaking of men that are something else, K. Rafael showed us a glimpse of the future – or at least how he envisions it. The collection was simple, and yet complex. That’s the best way I can describe it. What do you think?

There was a lingerie showcase as well, but that’s as much as I am willing to say on the record.

Viccy and Rose Mary brought the fire, and if I wasn’t trying to be an organized individual, I’d be dropping fire emojis all over the place.

My highlight of the night was Anita Beryl’s collection. The effort and hard work put into the collection, and the presentation was breath taking. I don’t think I have seen anything as beautiful as every single piece on this collection, this year. I will get at least one outfit from this collection, if it’s the last thing I do (hi blessers/sponsors/well-wishers). If you think I am exaggerating, see for yourself.

Last but not least, Susanne, the founder of Paple Rayn announced Sauti Ya Africa as the official Paple Rayn ambassadors. And then Sauti ya Africa sang, and it was beautiful. Everyone needs to watch Sauti Ya Africa perform at least once a year, you deserve such goodness in your life.
