Adventure Away
I once went bungee jumping. At the time, it was something that I had thought about doing but couldn’t find the courage to do. From what I had heard about bungee jumping, I wasn’t sure that it was something I was willing to put myself through – which explains why the day I went bungee jumping, I didn’t know that I would be bungee jumping that day. I received a call, accepted an invitation, and it is only when I was a boda to the rendezvous point that it began not to seem like a good idea any more.
The nerves I felt on the boda ride disappeared the moment I joined the group of friends who invited me. Things were all well and good on the way to Jinja, up to after we arrived at Adrift Safaris, Jinja. The gravity of a situation doesn’t occur to you until you are at the point of no return. That point for me was when I was being prepared for the jump, and the rope was fastened onto my body. In spite of my conflicting emotions, I made the jump, and lived to tell the story (One that I truly enjoy telling by the way).
So someone might ask why I want to bungee jump again, and the answer is simple really. I believe that I was a different person then, and would like to experience it again, only that it will be the first time because I am a different person today.
When I found out about The Pearl Guide’s 1 day Adrenaline Excursion, I knew that I had to be a part of it. Because of the way my friends are set up, my dream to go water rafting has remained unfulfilled because they simply won’t do it. Lord knows I have tried everything to persuade them, since water rafting is a group activity. And that’s when The Pearl Guide swooped in to save my life.
I contacted them, and told them that I didn’t have friends that were interested in taking this journey of adventure with me, and how much I would like to be a part of it, and they were happy to let me know that it was still possible for me join them. Turns out a lot of people don’t necessarily have someone to go for trips like this with therefore there were openings for me to go for the trip.
There’s a feeling I get when people show me love – like when I called my rubbish guy and he didn’t pick up, then he called me back and called me by name. Guys, he saved my number. That’s how I feel about this opportunity that The Pearl Guide has created for me. I don’t know how, but they knew that there are times when activities require a group of people yet you can’t come up with the required number (or anyone for that matter). And they created an option for me not to miss out.
This time next week, I will have bungee jumped for the second time in my life, and water rafted for the first time in my life. I don’t know about you, but I feel pretty excited about the week knowing what lies ahead. For anyone interested, the Adventurous Excursion will happen on 4th March 2017, so there might still be time for you to sign up. Both activities happen in one day so you don’t have to worry about not getting some rest over the weekend.
If that didn’t get you excited enough, how’s about the fact that The Pearl Guide has plenty of things lined up? Check them out.
I thought I would bungee but then my Doctor told me some things …lol… Anyway, how did the rafting go?
Dammit. I hate it when doctors do that. The rafting was amazing, but I think bungee jumping stays winning!
